GT Career Ambassadors

Last year, over 400 companies and 5,000 students attended the Georgia Tech Career Fair. This is a very important event for Georgia Tech students and potential employers.

How do you fit into the picture?
If you are a rising sophomore or junior then you are eligible to apply for a Career Ambassador position for Georgia Tech Career Services. Career Ambassadors are full-time students who serve to bridge the gap between Career Services and Georgia Tech students by marketing programs, staffing events and leading workshops. They are trained by Georgia Tech career services staff on various aspects of career planning. In short, they are "experts" on career services programs and resources and utilize the services and resources that they promote!

What exactly do Career Ambassadors do?
As a part of Career Services, Career Ambassadors are in charge of  promoting programs anservices by participating in marketing and outreach. This includes participating in workshops and events hosted by Career Services. Career Ambassadors are also encouraged tengage in special projects based on individual talents such as starting a Peer Advice Blog, developing a new section of the website, updating Twitter, Facebook, etc. Furthermore, they play an important role in the recruitment and training of new ambassadors. 

What is the benefit of becoming a Career Ambassador? 

As a Career Ambassador, you will learn more about career planning, networking, resume writing, and interviewing through comprehensive training and one on one contact with employers and Career Services staff. You will also learn marketing, presentation, and communication skills throughout your experience as a Career Ambassador which will look great on your resume. While also helping fellow students, a Career Ambassador gains leadership skills. Being a Career Ambassador is most definitely a resume builder but it also has special incentives and sometimes paid positions. Additionally, the Career Services staff create a friendly environment and work around your class schedule and assignments.


what is required to be a Career Ambassador? 
In order to be a Career Ambassador, students must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA, strong communication and presentation skills, ability to work in a team environment as well as independently, complete tasks based on established timeline, a positive attitude and a commitment to the mission of Career Services. Although not required, involvement in campus activities is always encouraged.
